Unfortunately, on the day of DOGtoberFEST, lightning struck twice. Gomez, one of the smallest attendees, had a personality so vibrant that it couldn't be captured in just a single photo. His Pumpkin Patch picture from that event ended up out of focus. When I contacted Gomez's owner, Nikki, she wasn't surprised. She mentioned that she rarely had clear pictures of him because he always appeared "blurry" in photos. After some (a lot) of persuasion, she finally agreed to let me try again. I can honestly say I have never agreed with a dog's description more in my life. He truly does have a naturally BLURRY look! I will share some "bloopers" to illustrate what I mean.

While I was trying to form a clear picture of this little dude, Nikki offered some valuable insights about him. She revealed that she had also adopted from A Little Bit of Country Dog Rescue, just like I did, and that he is a 5-year-old Schweenie (a mix of Shih Tzu and Dachshund). They welcomed him into their home three years ago after losing their cherished dog Buddy, who had been a loyal companion for 16 years. Initially hesitant about introducing another dog into their lives, they were inspired to take a leap of faith when they stumbled upon a Facebook post showcasing a dog in need of a calm home where he could shine.

Gomez quickly adapted to his new surroundings and exuded happiness almost instantly. By the end of his first day with them, it was clear he was meant to be a part of their family. Weighing in at just 20 pounds, he is bursting with energy and never tires of playing fetch or tug-of-war. He delights in being around people and enjoys playing with other dogs that engage in a good chase. Gomez takes his duty as a protector of their home and loved ones very seriously. One of his favorite activities is sticking his head out of the car window during rides, reveling in the fresh air and the excitement of the journey.

Gomez truly demonstrates that the perfect dog appears just when you need them most, highlighting how dogs can change our homes and lives.

Even blurry pictures capture his cautious demeanor and shyness.
